Teacher: Physical Education
David Petrick has taught Physical Education at Salam School for the past five years, and is the head coach of the award-winning Salam Stars basketball club. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sports Management from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, where he also ran track.
Hailing from Kewaunee, WI, where he received all-conference honors in basketball and football (as a wide receiver), and was a two-time state entry in track and field (where he ran the 200 and 400 meters, anchored the mile relay team, and also participated in long jump.) As head coach of the Salam Stars basketball team he has seen the program go from its humble beginnings when the school had no gym floor, to earning conference championships two of the last three years and earning many tournament invitations, including tournaments at Holy Wisdom Academy, the South Milwaukee Shoot-Out, and two trips to the prestigious Padre Serra, an elite tournament for private and parochial schools in the greater Milwaukee area.
In addition to his coaching and teaching duties, Mr. Petrick has tutored in math and serves as the health teacher for the upper grades. Mr. Petrick also serves as the Athletic Director for the Islamic Society of Milwaukee where he oversees the recreational programs and annual Fall Fun run. Mr. Petrick resides in Shorewood with his wife, Emily, and two daughters, Lucy and Lily.
